When ultraviolet (UV) is used for disinfection purpose, bacteria, viruses and spores are eliminated. In Hanovia UV systems, medium pressure UV lamps designed to destroy the DNA connections of microorganisms are used. When exposed to light between 230nm and 310nm, significant hydrogen bonds break in the DNA chain. Hanovia medium pressure lamps are optimized at 265 Nm, to ensure that harmful micro-organisms are fatally damaged.
